Season 2002/03

Patterns were soon established both at the top and at the bottom of the league with Chesterfield, Parkgate and Lichfield Diamonds all leading the table at one time or another prior to Christmas and Telford United , Peterborough United  and Loughborough Students all languishing at the foot.   While Peterborough and Loughborough regularly changed positions in 10th and 11th the Bucks were still looking for their first point midway through the season.

FA and County Cup competitions provided their usual disruption to the league programme and with Lichfield, Parkgate and Ilkeston Ladies all progressing to the 3rd round of the FA competition the disruption was worse than normal.   All went out to National League clubs, however, in early December, Parkgate to Aston Villa, Ilkeston to Lincoln City and Lichfield after a very long away trip to Middlesborough.   This left Parkgate to concentrate on their league programme and a number of consecutive wins looked to have them 'on their way'.   The two all important games still laid ahead however, home and away to near neighbours and rivals Chesterfield, and it was the 'Spireites' who took all 6 points which left Parkgate languishing in runners up position for the 2nd consecutive year.   Telford Utd went through the season without picking up a single point.   They were joined in the 2nd relegation place by Peterborough Utd
